Divesture of a part of Quartz business

Please be informed that Saint-Gobain Group has divested a part of its Quartz business (IDD and Spectrosil) to Heraeus Quarzglas (Germany) and the operation of this divesture has been completed on 31st October 2008.

Following the completion of the operation of business transfer, Saint-Gobain K.K. has sold its Quartz business to Shin-Etsu Quartz Products, Heraeus' subsidiary in Japan and from 1st November 2008, Saint-Gobain KK's Quartz business, specifically the manufacturing activity in Kashima Plant, will be continued by Shin-Etsu Quartz Products.
